WineAlign

WineAlign is social networking site that allows consumers answer the basic question they all face when entering the LCBO: “Which wine do I buy?”.

WineAlign combines reviews and scores from consumers and wine critics to create ranked lists of wines based on a number of parameters including food, varietal and price.

Through the web or through a mobile phone the users is presented with a ranked list of wines currently available at their favourite LCBO store.

Users can rate and recommend wines, find food matches and maintain wine cellars, favourites and shopping lists.

Through the Palate Profiler users can vary the influence level that certain wine critics and users have on their wine listings. Everyone one who uses the service can have a unique view of the wines available.

While the basic service is free a premium service is available which ensures that the influence level of critics is higher than the average user.

The plan is to leverage the liquor monopolies to create critical mass and expand nationally.

Revenue model is a combination of subscription fees and advertising revenue through hyper-targeted marketing. Ultimately we are creating a new advertising channel with the ability to target wine consumers with a message at point of purchase.
